Homework and announcements
Here are the homework assignments for Algebra 2. Most of them refer to handout packets; copies of these handouts are available to you by logging into the FirstClass system.
Assignments will generally be added to this page daily, but if an assignment is given in class but doesn't get posted here for whatever reason, you're still responsible for it.
HW due Thu. 10/1 (A, H) or Fri. 10/2 (E)
The homework is to finish today's problem set, "Finding zeros."
We will have a quiz soon on graphing calculator use: Friday in H block, Monday in A and E blocks.
HW due Wed. 9/30
- Finish the problem set from today's class, "Solving equations."
- If you're in E or H block class, you may still have a bit of work left to do in the packet from Friday, "Graphing calculator introduction." Finish that too.
Class Fri. 9/25 (E/H blocks only)
In class Friday (E and H blocks), we had an introductory lesson on graphing calculator use. If you did not finish the packet "Graphing Calculator Introduction" during class, finish it the next time you're able to do homework (if it's not until after the holiday weekend, that's fine).
HW for Thu. night 9/24 (A block only)
In class Thursday, we had an introductory lesson on graphing calculator use. If you did not finish the packet "Graphing Calculator Introduction" during class, finish it tonight.
HW due Thu. 9/24 (A) or Fri. 9/25 (E, H)
- Do the handout problem set, "Domain and Range."
- Make sure you bring a graphing calculator to class.
HW due Wed. 9/23 (A/E) or Thu. 9/24 (H)
Do the handout problem set, "Function concept."
HW due Wed. 9/23 (H block)
- Finish the review problem set begun in class, "Linear and exponential -- review."
- We will have a short quiz Wednesday on linear and exponential functions.
HW due Tue. 9/22 (A and E blocks)
- Finish the review problem set begun in class, "Linear and exponential -- review."
- We will have a short quiz Tuesday on linear and exponential functions.
HW due Tue. 9/22 (H block only)
Finish the handout problem set begun in class on Friday, "More linear modeling."
No HW due Mon. 9/21 (E block)
In class Friday we worked on a problem set "More Linear Modeling." Since there's a holiday this weekend, you do not have to finish it for homework. We'll finish during class on Monday.
HW for Thu. night 9/17 (A block only)
In class Thursday we worked on a problem set "More Linear Modeling." If you did not finish this problem set during class, please finish Thursday night.
HW due Thu. 9/17 (A) or Fri. 9/18 (E, H)
Do the handout problem set "More exponential modeling."
HW due Wed. 9/16 (A, E) or Thu. 9/17 (H)
In the handout problem set "Linear and Exponential Functions," do problems 8-13.
HW due Tue. 9/15 (A, E) or Wed. 9/16 (H)
Complete the handout problem set, "Sequences as functions."
Quiz Mon. 9/14 (A, E) or Tue. 9/15 (H)
- Study for our first quiz on sequences. It will be Monday in A and E blocks, Tuesday in H block.
- Read the Course Guide.
- Make sure you've either bought or borrowed a calculator; they'll be needed next week.
HW due Thu. 9/10 (A block) or Fri. 9/11 (E, H blocks)
- Finish today’s problem set, "Sequences: explicit and recursive descriptions."
- Next class (Thu. or Fri.): Practice quiz (not graded) on sequences.
HW due Wed. 9/9 (all classes)
- Finish today's handout problem set, "Writing and using linear equations" (problems 1-6).
- Complete the survey about yourself (yellow sheet distributed in class).
HW due Tue. 9/8 (A and H blocks only)
Complete whatever you have left of this assignment that was mostly done in class on Thursday: problems 18-22 in the packet titled "Sequences: recursive descriptions."
HW due Thu. 9/3 (A, H) or Tue. 9/8 (E)
This homework is due at the next class, which is Thursday for A and H blocks, but not until next Tuesday for E block.
- Do today's handout problem set, "Sequences: formulas for the next term" (problems 14-17).
- Make sure you've read the Need-To-Know information on the last page of today's handout.
HW due Wed. 9/2
- Do the problem set distributed in class, "Sequences."
- Talk to your folks about whether you plan to buy or to borrow the TI-83/84 calculator you'll need for this course.
